During week 9 Waggrakine Primary was involved in the Chapman division interschool athletics carnival. The carnival was held over two days, throws, jumps and 800m were on Tuesday and the remainder events on Thursday.
Waggrakine started well on Tuesday with students finishing in the top 4 in 10 out of 16 events. This was continued on Thursday. Congratulations to Mt Tarcoola for winning this year’s shield. It was great to see our students performing at their best and cheering and supporting each other on. Great sportsmanship was displayed all day and the team must be commended on their efforts and great behaviour.
As always these events do not happen without help. So a big thank you goes to Mr Murdoch, Ms Hunt and Mrs Wise for looking after the students and to Mrs Burton for her help assisting the scorers.
On Friday 14 of September, Waggrakine Primary School was involved in the interschool cross country held at Spalding Park. 19 students went to the event with 16 competitors racing in the intermediates and senior divisions. Waggrakine had 9 competitors finishing in the top ten out of fields of 24 with the rest not too far behind.
A big congratulations goes out to all students involved but in particular Hayley C for coming 1st, Hayley O for her 2nd and Josh H on coming 3rd. With these great results Waggy managed to finish 2nd overall. Well done to everyone.
ECE kicked things off when the Olympics started with their own mini olympics!
Congratulations on our Waggy QM’s Netball Team for 2011. The division A group came 2nd by 2 points. Thank you to our coach Sonia Boryczewski for training the girls and our umpire Bernie Biddiscombe who volunteered their time. We had a great year with great competition, sportsmanship and most importantly lots of fun.
